Fort Leonard Wood is one of the five Army reception centers. Located in Pulaski County, Missouri, Fort Leonard Wood lies in the heart of the Ozark Mountains. Since its beginnings in 1941, the installation has been United States soldiers. The post is home to U.S. Army Maneuver Support Center of Excellence. Fort Leonard Wood is an Army Center of Excellence and trains up to 90,000 soldiers and civilians every year.
Whiteman AFB is located in scenic central Missouri, two miles from the town of Knob Noster. The base opened in 1942 as Sedalia Glider Base and was later renamed after Second Lieutenant George A. Whiteman, a WWII pilot who died in action at Pearl Harbor. The main activity on the base is bomb operations and support. It is known as the home of the first Stealth Bomber Unit.
