There are 2 Military Bases in Hawaii.
The Marine Corps base located in Hawaii is one of the most sought after assignments and there's no surprise why. Located on the island of O'ahu, this base is tucked away on Kaneohe Bay with pristine beaches and gorgeous panoramic views. While the base is primarily home to the Marine Corps, a few Navy personnel work there as well. Many have nicknamed this base "K-Bay".
Naval Station Pearl Harbor and Hickam Air Force Base are much more than monuments to the tragedy of December 7, 1941. Both of these installations coordinate operations in the Pacific theater. Pearl Harbor/Hickam is centrally located on the Hawaiian island of Oʽahu, just a few miles from downtown Honolulu and Waikiki Beach. The area is very attractive to both active-duty and retired personnel.

Aloha! So, you’re going to Hawaii! A tropical paradise with beautiful scenery and wonderful food. Sounds like a gimmick, doesn’t it?
It is, and it isn’t. Hawaii is a beautiful, wonderful place to live. The beaches can’t be beat, and you’re only a 5 hour plane ride from California, or an 8 hour trip to several Asian countries if you feel like vacationing away from home.
Jobs for spouses are nearly impossible to find off base unless the job is medically inclined or with a corporation in Honolulu. However, COLA should help soften the blow if your family is used to two incomes.
Pets can accompany you so long as they are cats or dogs. They are subject to an extremely long quarantine period, so as soon as you get orders to Hawaii, start looking up the process to get your pets there!
Other pets such as reptiles, birds, or rodents are subject to discrimination based on their species due to the potential of a threat to the native island habitat.
Learn your pet’s scientific name, then call the Honolulu Center for Disease Control. They will be happy to assist you with any further information you need to get your pets there safe and sound.
