Little Rock AFB consists of one runway and over 6,000 acres of land. The installation employs approximately 8,000 service members and civilians, with another 6,500 family living on-post.
The 19th and 314th Airlift Wings reside at Little Rock AFB. The 19th Airlift Wing includes the 19th Operations Group, the 19th Maintenance Group, the 19th Mission Support Group and the 19th Medical Group. The 314th Airlift Wing includes the best C-130 flight instructors. Little Rock AFB is also home to four tenant units.
In addition to the recreational activities available on-post, the city of Jacksonville offers several parks that are appropriate for families with children. Little Rock, Arkansas is just 17 miles north of Little Rock AFB. As the capital of Arkansas, Little Rock offers many shopping, dining and nightlife activities. The Little Rock Zoo is a popular family destination. There is a nightclub in Little Rock to suit nearly everyone’s taste in music.
There is one elementary school located at Little Rock AFB. Arnold Elementary School serves service members children in grades kindergarten through six. Little Rock AFB is part of the Pulaski County Special School District. The district includes 22 additional elementary schools, six middle schools and seven high schools. Transportation is provided to all elementary students who live at least one mile from their school and secondary students who live two or more miles from their assigned school.
The 19th Medical Group provides primary and specialty care services to airmen and their families at Little Rock AFB. When hospital or emergency care is necessary, North Metro Medical Center is available 24-hours a day, just outside Little Rock Air Force Base.
Little Rock Family Housing manages on-post housing at Little Rock AFB. Families who live on-post have a wide range of options in floor plans. Houses are available with two, three and four bedrooms and include amenities such as private backyards, patios, washer and dryer connections, and air conditioners. Select homes have additional amenities, including fenced yards, carpeting and fireplaces.
Housing is provided for unaccompanied airmen with ranks under E-5 live on-post. Each airman is assigned a private room equipped with a microwave and refrigerator. Unaccompanied airmen ranked E-5 or higher or E-4 with more than three years of service live in off-post housing. Temporary housing is available at the Razorback Inn. Comfortable rooms include cable television, coffee maker and microwave. The Razorback Inn is pet-friendly.
